Is the proxy working, which country it exits from, how fast it responds and whether it hides your IP. HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5

The type is detected automatically: we try HTTP, SOCKS5 and SOCKS4. If a line has a type (socks5://), we use it.
One check takes up to 25 seconds, 4 run at the same time. Limit: 60 proxies per hour.
IP location data: IP Geolocation by DB-IP. Proxy lists and passwords are not stored: they are only used for the check.

What the tool checks
We connect to the proxy from our server and open a test page through it. This shows whether the proxy responds, its type, which IP and country it uses to reach the internet, and how many milliseconds the response takes. For HTTP proxies we also check whether they let HTTPS sites through.
Anonymity levels
An elite proxy hides both your IP and the fact that you use a proxy. An anonymous proxy hides your IP but adds headers like Via or X-Forwarded-For that tell the site it is a proxy. A transparent proxy passes your real address to the site, so it is no good for anonymity.
Why free proxies often fail
Public lists are updated every few minutes, and most addresses in them do not live long: they get closed, overloaded or blocked. If a proxy with a login says "Login and password required", check that they are in the line. To see what sites know about your connection, open My IP, and to check your VPN for leaks, use the leak test.

The proxy did not answer in time: the server is off, overloaded or blocked by a firewall. Free proxies often behave like this, so try checking it again later.
Both hide your IP. An anonymous proxy tells the site that the request comes through a proxy, an elite one does not. A transparent proxy passes on your real IP.
Speed is measured from our server: the time the proxy needs to accept the connection and return the page. From your computer it may differ, depending on the distance to the proxy and your internet.
No. The proxy line is sent to the server only for the check and is not written anywhere. In the results the password is hidden with asterisks.
Each check means real connections from our server, so one address can check up to 60 proxies per hour. If the server is busy with other checks, wait a minute and try again.
