What keyword density is

It is the share of the text that a word or phrase takes up. If a text has 500 words and the phrase "buy coffee" appears 5 times, its density is 1%. Search engines stopped counting percentages directly long ago, but the top words clearly show what the text is really about and whether you repeat the same thing too often.

What density is normal

There is no strict rule. For the main phrase, 0.5-2.5% is usually enough: it goes in the heading, the first paragraph and a few more times in the text. When a single word takes up more than 3%, the text becomes hard to read and search engines may see it as keyword stuffing. It is better to replace some of the repeats with synonyms and related words.

Why hide stop words

Prepositions, conjunctions and pronouns appear in every text and always top the list. When you hide them, the words that describe the topic come first. The total word count does not change, so the percentages stay honest. The text language is detected automatically, and you can also pick it yourself.

  • The number of times a word or phrase appears is divided by the total number of words in the text and multiplied by 100. Stop words count toward the total even when they are hidden from the table. Word forms are counted separately: "coffee" and "coffees" are different words.

  • For the main phrase, 0.5-2.5% is usually enough. More than 3% for a single word is a reason to reread the text: repeats get in the reader's way, and search engines may treat them as keyword stuffing. It matters more that the text answers the reader's question than that it hits a certain percentage.

  • Short function words: prepositions, conjunctions, particles, pronouns. They connect words but say nothing about the topic. The tool has lists for Russian, Ukrainian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Turkish and Japanese.

  • People search in phrases: "coffee beans", "buy a coffee machine for home". Phrases show which word combinations you repeat most and whether they match the searches you want the page to be found for. Phrases never cross a period or other punctuation.

  • No, we do not load pages by URL. Open the page, select the text, copy it and paste it here. That way the menu, footer and other site elements stay out of the count.

  • No. Everything is counted right in your browser, and your text never leaves it. You can safely check drafts and client texts.
