Pixelation for privacy and style
Hide what's private
Children's faces, license plates, addresses on parcels, data in screenshots - draw around them and they turn into squares. Each photo in the batch has its own areas.
How big the cells should be
Cell size is relative to the photo size, so the effect looks the same on large and small shots. To hide text reliably, use 20 or more.
Pixel art
On the whole photo, pixelation gives a retro look for a profile picture, cover or post. Try adding a border too.

Choose "Selected areas only" and draw around the face. Increase the cell size until the features can't be made out - usually 20-30 is enough.
Blur makes the image soft, while pixelation builds it from big squares. Pixels stand out more and show right away that part of the photo was hidden on purpose.
Keep "Whole photo" and tune the cell size: at 8-15 the photo looks like an old video game, at 30-60 only colored blocks remain.
