Open port checker
Find out whether your server, game, camera or remote desktop can be reached from the internet: we check the ports on your IP address
Locating...
We only check ports on your own IP. We do not check other addresses.
How to open a port on your router
- Find the local IP of your computer or camera: on Windows run ipconfig, on macOS and Linux look in the network settings.
- Open your router settings in the browser, usually at 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
- Find the "Port Forwarding" (or Virtual Server) section and add a rule: external port, local IP and internal port, protocol TCP.
- Allow the port in your computer's firewall, start the program and check again.
Why the port is not responding
- The port is not forwarded on the router or is blocked by a firewall, so requests just get lost.
- Your ISP shares one IP among many customers (CGNAT): if the address in your router settings does not match the IP above, port forwarding will not work. A public or static IP from your ISP fixes this.
- Your ISP blocks some ports for home users, most often 25 and 80.
- The program only listens on the local address 127.0.0.1, not on all network interfaces.
Check a port in three steps
- 1Start the programthe server, game or camera that needs an open port
- 2Enter the portsby hand, separated by commas, or pick a ready-made set
- 3See the resultopen, closed or not responding, and what to do about it
What the results mean
"Open" means our server connected to the port, so it can be reached from the internet. "Closed" means the device answered, but nothing is waiting for connections on that port: the program is not running or listens on another port. "Not responding" means there was no answer at all: usually the port is not forwarded on the router or a firewall blocks it.
Why we only check your IP
Checking other people's addresses looks like scanning, so we do not do it: the server only connects to the IP you opened this page from. If you are on a VPN or proxy, the ports of its address are checked, not those of your router. You can see your public address and ISP on the page My IP.
IPv4 and IPv6
If you are connected over IPv6, the check runs against your IPv6 address. Port forwarding is usually not needed for it, but the router firewall often blocks incoming connections, so you need to allow them separately.

A number from 1 to 65535 on which a program accepts connections. A website usually runs on ports 80 and 443, SSH on 22, Minecraft on 25565.
No, only on the address you opened the page from. This keeps the tool from being used to scan other people's networks.
Make sure the program is running, the rule points to the right local IP and the port is allowed in the firewall. If the IP in your router settings does not match the IP on this page, your ISP uses CGNAT: ask them for a public IP.
Not by itself, as long as the program behind it is one you need, with a strong password and updates. Close ports you do not use, especially remote desktop, databases and cameras.
No, only TCP. UDP ports (used by WireGuard or some games, for example) cannot be checked this way: they do not answer an empty connection.
Up to 10 at a time and up to 30 checks per hour from one address. Each check takes a few seconds.
