What is form W-9

Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification

Form W-9 is used to give your taxpayer identification number (SSN or EIN) to a US company or client that pays you. It is usually filled out by freelancers and contractors, and the payer uses the details for reporting, for example on 1099 forms.
