The mean is the sum of the numbers divided by how many there are. The median is the middle number of the sorted list. If there are outliers (one very large salary among ordinary ones), the median shows the "typical" value more honestly.
The most frequent number in the list. If every number appears once, there is no mode; if several numbers appear equally often, there are several modes and the calculator shows them all.
How spread out the numbers are around the mean. A small deviation means the values are close together, a large one means they differ a lot. We calculate it over the whole set (dividing by n).
